Wednesday Round-Up: Seahawks Join Coalition Of Seattle Sports Teams To Support Play Equity In King County – Seahawks.com

Good morning, 12s.

Here’s a look at what’s ‘out there’ for today – Wednesday, September 11 – about your Seattle Seahawks:

Collaboration Is Key

“We are proud to come together with the local professional sports teams in this region to draw awareness to the importance of youth sports in our community.”

These are the words spoken by Jeff Richards, the Vice President of Marketing & Community Engagement for the Seattle Seahawks. Richards and the Seahawks have consistently been using the organization’s platform and relationship with the region to empower youth to reach their full potential through programs, initiatives, events, and strategic partnerships.

As of September 10, the franchise has joined the greater cause that goes beyond a single sport.

Along with the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Sounders FC, Seattle Storm, and NHL Seattle, the Seahawks have joined with the King County Play Equity Coalition “to support and improve equitable access to safe, fun physical activity for all King County youth (‘play equity’). The efforts mark a strong and strategic partnership among the region’s professional sports teams as they join with other public and private stakeholders to promote play equity across King County and ultimately bolster individual and community health and advancement.”

This newly-formed coalition stemmed from the State of Play Seattle-King County research efforts, which was showed that there needs to be an increase in youth athletics offerings in our region. “Inspiring kids to play, whether for love of the game, the chance to compete or for the powerful benefits of physical activity, that’s a huge priority for our organization,” said Richards.

Keep an eye out in the coming months for more announcements of joint efforts from the coalition. For the full State of Play report, click here.
